How Vietnamese speech transcribes

Vietnamese is tonal, and northern and southern accents differ. Clear recordings transcribe well, but a wrong tone mark can change a word's meaning, so check key passages.

What a Vietnamese transcript looks like

Vietnamese transcripts include the full set of tone marks and diacritics, which matter for meaning. Vietnamese writes each syllable as a separate word, so a transcript looks like many short words; names are usually written as spoken.

Examples

43-minute video

A Ho Chi Minh City startup transcribes a 43-minute recorded Vietnamese user interview.

11-minute recording

A student transcribes an 11-minute Vietnamese voice note.

Costs: 43 credits (4.3¢) and 11 credits (1.1¢), including a translated transcript if you select another language. Audio files go in the audio to text workspace.

Using the tool on this page

  • The spoken language is detected automatically; you select the output language — the spoken language itself for an untranslated transcript, or another language for a translation. Files can be up to 2 hours long.
  • Only the audio is sent for processing — the video stays on your device — and audio and text are deleted within 30 minutes of delivery (how files are protected).
  • You can download a timestamped transcript, subtitles (SRT and VTT) and plain text. Every output, step and limit is explained on the video to text page.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle northern and southern Vietnamese accents?

Both are recognised. Tone marks can occasionally be wrong in noisy audio, so check important passages.
