About WebM files
WebM is an open web format using VP8, VP9 or AV1 video with Opus or Vorbis audio. Browser-based screen recorders and many web tools save WebM.
Common sources: browser screen recorders, Loom-style recording tools, web-conferencing exports, downloads of your own web videos.
Chrome, Edge and Firefox read WebM natively; recent Safari versions support it too.
WebM to text
WebM recordings made in a browser often have no seek index; if the duration looks wrong, re-save the file and try again.

Cost: 14 credits (1.4¢).
Translating a WebM
For software demos, technical terms often stay in English in the translation — review the transcript for UI labels.

Cost: 350 credits (35¢) with a translated voice, or 7 credits (0.7¢) for translated text only. Switch Full translation output on in the tool above for a voice track.
Using the tool on this page
- The spoken language is detected automatically; you select the output language — the spoken language itself for an untranslated transcript, or another language for a translation. Files can be up to 2 hours long.
- Only the audio is sent for processing — the video stays on your device — and audio and text are deleted within 30 minutes of delivery (how files are protected).
- You can download a timestamped transcript, subtitles (SRT and VTT) and plain text. Every output, step and limit is explained on the video to text page.
