mydubly vs HeyGen Video Translation

HeyGen is an AI avatar video platform whose video translation can re-sync lips to the new language. mydubly only dubs: it replaces the voice track, in a copy of each speaker's own voice, and leaves the picture untouched. Competitor figures come from their own pricing pages, checked on 7 October 2026. Prices and limits change, so check them again before you decide.

Long videos

HeyGen caps translated videos at 30 minutes on Creator and Pro and 60 on Business. Webinars, lectures and podcasts often run longer. mydubly accepts files up to 2 hours, and a 90-minute webinar costs 4,500 credits ($4.50) to dub. Because HeyGen doesn't publish a fixed number of credits per translated minute, compare by running the same clip through both.

Lip-sync or not

Lip-sync matters most for close-up talking heads, ads and avatar videos. For screen recordings, slides, lectures filmed from a distance and podcasts, viewers rarely watch lips closely, and a dub without lip-sync works. mydubly places each line where the original was spoken and keeps background music and effects under the new voice; AI lip-sync explains the trade-off.

Stay with HeyGen if

  • You need lip-sync, AI avatars or video generation from a script.
  • You need a language outside mydubly's 19 voice languages.
  • Your videos are short and you already use HeyGen for other content.

mydubly fits if

  • Your videos run past 30 or 60 minutes.
  • You want a fixed price per minute and no subscription. Top-ups are charged in Indian rupees at the day's exchange rate through Cashfree Payments (UPI, cards or netbanking), about ₹96 for 1,000 credits.
  • You want the video itself to stay on your device; only the audio is sent, and the dub's files are deleted 120 minutes after you last use the editor.

Try it on one video

  1. Sign in with Google for 100 free credits.
  2. Choose a clip up to 2 minutes long, pick the target language and switch "Full translation output" on.
  3. Listen for each speaker's voice and the pacing, and decide whether the missing lip-sync matters for this kind of video.

Privacy and where the file goes

HeyGen's translation runs as a cloud workflow on their platform (avatars, generation and lip-sync all need the video server-side). mydubly keeps the picture on your device: the browser extracts audio, only that audio is processed, and the dubbed MP4 is assembled locally. That difference matters for unreleased product demos, internal training and client footage you cannot upload in full. Details are on private video translation.

When to compare side by side

Run the same 60–90 second clip through both tools before you commit a series. Listen for names, product terms and pacing; watch whether missing lip-sync bothers you on that shot size. If you mainly need avatars or script-to-video, stay on HeyGen. If you mainly need longer files at a fixed per-minute rate, open the AI dubbing tool next.

Using the tool on this page

  • The spoken language is detected automatically across about 100 languages; you can pin it, or pick one of 21 languages to translate into. Files can be up to 2 hours long.
  • Only the audio is sent for processing — the video stays on your device. The finished dub opens in the dub editor, where you can correct words, timing, levels, background and subtitles and re-process only what changed. Its files are deleted 120 minutes after you last use the editor (how files are protected).
  • You can download a translated video that keeps your music and effects, the translated audio as M4A, a transcript and subtitles (SRT and VTT). Every output, step and limit is explained on the AI dubbing page.
